At the lecture Professor Dekker will give a broad overview of nanoscience and nanotechnology. He will illustrate the excitement and potential of this emerging field by focusing on a number of examples, in particular carbon nanotubes for nanoelectronics and single-molecule techniques for biophysics of DNA-enzyme interactions.

Professor Dekker is currently Professor of Molecular Biophysics at Delft University of Technology. He has made several ground breaking contributions to the field of nanoscience especially within the area of carbon nanotubes.
