Thu 16-02-2006 Millioner Millioner til forskning i ultrahurtige lasere
COM•DTU's kompetence område Fibers & Nonlinear Optics har sammen med NKT Research & Innovation A/S, Amtssygehuset i Herlev og DTU-spinoutvirksomheden Crystal Fibre A/S fået tilsagn fra Højteknologifonden om 21 millioner kr. over fire år til at arbejde med et projekt om udvikling og anvendelse af ultrahurtige lasere til behandling af f.eks. grå stær.

At the end of year 2005 COM•DTU received promising news about the future financial situation.

When the Council for Technology and Production, FTP, announced the disposition of the research money, COM•DTU's nanophotonics area were granted several millions. Among the largest research projects which have been considered is the project QUEST (Quantum dot structures Enabling light Slow-down and amplification). In order to implement this project professor Jesper Mørk from COM•DTU has been granted DKK 14.711.000,-. Moreover postdoc Filip Öhman has been granted a scholarship at DKK 2.122.800,- for the Photonic Devices for Multi-Wavelength Amplification and Regeneration project.

At the end of year 2005 competence area Fibers & Nonlinear Optics also received the good news, that they together with NKT Research & Innovation A/S, Amtssygehuset in Herlev and DTU-spin-off company Crystal Fibre A/S have been promised 21 millions DKK by the Højteknologifonden over the next 4 years. The collaboration will be centered around the innovation and application of ultra fast lasers for treatment e.g. cataract.

Moreover, Nanophotonics is represented in the project NanoNose which is rooted at MIC with professor Anja Boisen as manager. Finally Nanophotonics is partner in the project "Plasmonic optical chips for medical diagnostics and chemical sensing" which is rooted at Syddansk Universitet. Additionally, DTU has received money from the Ministeriet for Videnskab, Teknologi og Udvikling in connection with the so-called Nanotechn Consortium of Education, and approx. DKK 500.000,- is granted the nano-bachelor-education. A probestation for experimental characterisation of nanophotonic electrooptical components will be one of the outcomes.
